Background

Meride, a leading funeral company in The Netherlands, is renowned for its personal, respectful, and quality service. Recognizing the increasing role of technology in today's society, Meride identified a need to develop a platform where individuals can securely and user-friendly record their funeral wishes.

In an age where technology is deeply interwoven with our lives, the objective was to design more than just a functional tool. The goal was to craft an empathetic, intuitive, and user-friendly digital platform that would serve as a sanctuary for individuals navigating the emotional journey of funeral planning. Users should feel comforted and empowered as they capture, adjust, and share their funeral wishes. Recognizing the deeply personal nature of such decisions, a paramount emphasis was placed on ensuring privacy and transparency every step of the way. Furthermore, the platform was designed to offer unparalleled support, ensuring that users felt guided and understood throughout their journey on the platform.

Research

Competitive analysis of three major competitors revealed opportunities in information provision, wish sharing, and support.

Interviews and desk research showcased the need of personalization and the need of collaboration between relatives.

End Product

An innovative platform that empowers users to record and share their funeral wishes, supported by an intuitive user interface. The platform promotes openness and eases the emotional burden of the planning process. Users can start recording their wishes without immediately having to create an account, thus lowering the entry barrier.
